The aid organisations Caritas, Diakonie and Volkshilfe sharply criticised an amendment to the law by the federal government on Thursday, which excludes subsidiary protection holders in basic welfare support from receiving family allowance.

Background: The criticism of the welfare organisations

The president of Caritas, Nora Tödtling-Musenbichler, the director of Diakonie, Maria Katharina Moser, and the director of Volkshilfe, Erich Fenninger, turned against the planned regulation in a joint statement. They declared: "Kinderrechte gelten für alle Kinder - ohne Ausnahme". The organisations see the fight against child poverty and the social security of families endangered by the exclusion.
