Germany, France and seven other European states jointly founded a coalition with Ukraine for an integrated missile defense against ballistic missiles on July 13, 2026 in Paris.
The agreement was announced in the evening following a meeting of around 25 heads of state and government in Paris, as French President Emmanuel Macron said. "Given the ballistic threat, we are making a clear decision: We are protecting Ukraine, strengthening our common security and building a Europe of defense," said Macron. In addition to Germany, France and Ukraine, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom are participating in the alliance. A total of nine countries are taking part in the coalition; further states have been invited, according to the declaration.
