Russian Missile Attack on Kyiv – New European Coalition for Missile Defense Announced

In parallel to the reporting on the attack, a new security initiative took shape on the diplomatic stage. Nine European states and Ukraine have founded a new coalition for missile defense. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron had invited the supporting countries of Ukraine to a meeting in Paris.

He also announced military exercises by Ukraine's supporters in Ukraine's neighboring countries in the near future. The initiative is intended to strengthen Ukrainian air defense against Russian missiles, according to sources close to the meeting.

Tensions between Moscow and Berlin

At the same time, the tone between Moscow and Berlin sharpened on the foreign policy front. Russia protested against German support for Ukraine and simultaneously accused Germany of propaganda that comes close to that of the Nazis. In Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned German Ambassador Alexander Graf Lambsdorff.

Moscow also reported casualties in the Moscow region as well as in the occupied territories in eastern Ukraine. The Russian side spoke of attacks that had been directed at Ukrainian territory and the Zaporizhzhia region.
