Nova Rock 2026 kicks off in Nickelsdorf – over 200,000 fans expected

This year's edition features several internationally renowned acts among its headliners. The headliners include Volbeat, Iron Maiden, The Cure and Bring Me The Horizon. The line-up thus covers a broad spectrum, ranging from heavy metal to rock and alternative to British wave tradition. The performances are spread across the four festival days, with the main acts traditionally playing in the evenings on the largest stage.

In addition to the musical highlights, the infrastructure across the expansive site also plays a central role. Camping areas, food stalls and sanitary facilities are designed to accommodate tens of thousands of guests at the same time. The organizer had stressed in advance that logistical planning, given the expected visitor numbers, is one of the greatest challenges.

Weather and conditions

The weather forecast for the festival days looks favorable. Meteorologically, this year's edition is likely to offer ideal conditions. After the sometimes difficult weather of previous editions, the organizers are hoping for consistently dry and warm weather this year, to ensure smooth running for visitors and stage crews alike.

Beyond the stage, the organizers are also focusing on sustainability. A special campaign rewards clean habits: anyone handing in a full garbage bag receives a five-euro voucher. The aim is to reduce the amount of waste on the festival grounds and contribute to keeping the expansive areas clean.

Travel and sustainability

Fans will travel to the festival via several routes heading east in Austria. In addition to private cars and buses, dedicated shuttle services are also being offered, connecting Nickelsdorf with surrounding train stations. Authorities in the district of Neusiedl am See expect increased traffic through Sunday inclusive.

By reaching the mark of more than 200,000 expected guests, Nova Rock underlines its position as one of the most important music events in the German-speaking world. The combination of prominent headliners, a broad mid-range program and the location on the Austrian-Hungarian border also makes the festival attractive to international guests.

For the upcoming festival days, the organizers announced further program highlights. In addition to the major headliners, numerous other bands from various genres will perform, ensuring continuous live music on all three stages. The festival runs into the late-night hours, with the campsites remaining open around the clock.
