Nickelsdorf, June 13, 2026

The Cure closed out the second day of the Nova Rock Festival on the Pannonia Fields in Nickelsdorf, Burgenland, on Friday evening as headliners with a melancholic, atmospheric performance on the Blue Stage.

Robert Smith guided the audience through a dense, drawn-out evening with songs such as "Alone" from the current album. To close, the band played "Three Imaginary Boys" and "Boys Don't Cry". The fact that the British band skipped their biggest hit "Friday I'm in Love" on a Friday was interpreted by APA as a deliberate programmatic omission: „Dass sie ihren größten Hit Friday I'm in Love an diesem Freitag ausließen, war dann auch gar nicht so schlimm." Smith acted as the „Zeremonienmeister" of a dignified end to a long festival day.
