According to a VCÖ analysis, roughly one in three households in Austria could save money by switching to the KlimaTicket for everyday public transport use.
The Verkehrsclub Österreich (VCÖ) examined the costs that Austrian families currently incur for their daily commutes, comparing them with KlimaTicket fares. The comparison shows that about one third of households would have a concrete margin of savings by adopting the annual public transport pass, depending on their Land of residence and mobility habits.
Alongside ticket price, the VCÖ study also considers travel times and service frequency as central criteria in the decision to use public transport rather than the car. "Neben dem Preis seien auch die Reisezeit und die Häufigkeit der Verbindungen zentrale Kriterien für die Entscheidung, ob mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln oder mit dem Auto gefahren wird", the analysis states, picking up observations gathered on the mobility behavior of Austrians.
