With the end of the application deadline, deliberations on the future leadership team – which is to take up its work on January 1, 2027 – will begin. The procedure is politically sensitive because ORF director positions have traditionally been awarded in the field of tension between the SPÖ, ÖVP, and other forces represented in the Foundation Council. The designated general manager is under particular scrutiny because his own appointment was the result of a political selection process. Pig previously made his mark as managing director of the communications agency KMM; now he is to lead the broadcaster.
