Fuschlsee, 31 July 2026

An ownerless stand-up paddleboard triggered a major operation involving water rescue, the Red Cross, and police at Lake Fuschlsee in the Salzburg Flachgau during the night into Friday, which was concluded around midnight without any find.

The alarm was raised late on Thursday evening when passersby and local residents spotted a drifting board on the water and alerted the rescue services. The Fuschlsee alarm district was then activated together with the Salzburg Stadt local chapters of the Red Cross. Several boat crews and a helicopter searched the lake and the shoreline areas, including around Schloss Fuschl, Mostbirnbaum, and along the municipal roads surrounding the body of water.
