Gronau, 30 May 2026

Udo Lindenberg, the German rock musician known as the 'Panikrocker', has been admitted to hospital and cancelled a planned appearance in Gronau for health reasons, the Brost Foundation announced.

The foundation, which organized the 'Udo Lindenberg & Friends' event in the musician's birthplace, stated that Lindenberg is 'in hospital treatment and will need a break in the coming weeks on the advice of his doctors'. The specific reason for his hospitalization was not disclosed.

The cancellation was reported by WDR 2 Münsterland on Friday, 29 May 2026. The appearance had been scheduled for the coming Wednesday as part of celebrations around Lindenberg's 80th birthday, which he marked on 17 May.

Birthday Celebrations Curtailed

Several events and special activities had been planned around the milestone birthday. Multiple exhibitions about Lindenberg's life and work have already been launched across Germany.

A few weeks ago, Lindenberg opened an exhibition in Werl, approximately 100 kilometers from Gronau. That show displays his pictures and drawings, with titles referencing his well-known songs such as 'Sie spielte Cello', 'Hinterm Horizont', and 'Ich mach mein Ding'.
