Twelve US states led by California filed suit on Monday against the planned $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance.

California and eleven other US states are going to court to prevent the planned takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount Skydance. The Department of Justice concluded that the merger would harm neither competition nor US consumers — neither in the TV or streaming business nor in film production.

Paramount is one of the smaller players in the industry. Warner, by contrast, is one of the heavyweights. With roughly $41 billion in revenue, Warner generates about 30 percent more annual revenue than Paramount. The merger of the two media conglomerates has a volume of approximately $111 billion.
