Gaming, July 15, 2026

After the crash of a small Piper plane in Gaming in the district of Scheibbs, in which two people lost their lives on Sunday, the 15-year-old passenger told police of several engine cutouts before the accident.

In the accident on Sunday, the 47-year-old pilot and a woman of the same age were killed. The 15-year-old and her 41-year-old uncle suffered serious injuries, as police reported. The teenager was able to leave the hospital as early as Monday, while the 41-year-old was still receiving intensive medical treatment on Wednesday.

Passenger's statements support defect theory

As police spokesman Stefan Loidl explained on Wednesday in response to an inquiry, the questioning of the 15-year-old confirmed the assumption that a technical defect was likely to have triggered the crash. The teenager, who according to police freed herself from the wreckage of the aircraft on her own, reported several engine cutouts on the small plane before the crash occurred.
