In a poll conducted by infratest dimap for Saxony-Anhalt and published on 26 August 2026, the AfD remains the strongest party but falls short of an absolute majority, while the CDU loses two points and lands at 22 percent.

AfD strongest force, but without an absolute majority

The AfD tops the current Sunday question for Saxony-Anhalt but, according to the preliminary figures from infratest dimap, does not reach an absolute majority. This means that, according to its own statements, the party would remain the strongest force in the state but would still need a coalition partner to achieve a governing majority. The other parties represented in the state parliament rank behind it, with the CDU named as the second-strongest force.
