Staff at the TU Dortmund University Library have discovered a previously unknown handwritten dedication by Albert Einstein from the year 1952, addressed to his friend and later executor of his estate, Otto Nathan, in a large book donation.
The find was made by employees of the university library while cataloguing an extensive donation from the Americanist Walter Grünzweig. According to the university, Grünzweig had given the library more than 4,000 volumes of North American literature. In one of these volumes, the staff came across a handwritten note by Einstein, which appears on the flyleaf of the book "Socialism and American Life."
