Around 250 passengers were evacuated on Wednesday from a defective Railjet between the Kaiserebersdorf station in Vienna and Schwechat (district of Bruck an der Leitha).
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the heavily frequented line toward Vienna Airport. According to the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), the train stopped on the open track after a technical defect occurred. The roughly 250 passengers subsequently had to leave the Railjet across the tracks.
The ÖBB incident commander on site coordinated the evacuation together with the volunteer fire department and the Red Cross. The rescue services set up an assembly point where the travelers were looked after and provided with drinks. According to current findings, no one was injured.
