Vienna/Linz, July 23, 2026
In the first half of 2026, 97 Austrian start-ups received new financing, reaching a historic high, according to the "Start-up Investment Barometer" jointly published by EY Austria and invest.austria.
Total financing volume rose 329 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 472 million euros. According to the report, 97 financing rounds took place in the past months with a total volume of 472 million euros – "a record value", as the analysis states. Florian Haas, Head of Start-up at EY Austria, spoke of a recovery: "Das erste Halbjahr 2026 brachte die Erholung, die ich schon länger erwarte."
As Haas emphasized, international investors are back – and not just symbolically, but with substantial tickets. "Internationale Investor:innen sind zurück – und zwar nicht nur symbolisch, sondern mit substanziellen Tickets", said Haas. Specifically, in the first half of 2026 at least 300 million euros, or 64 percent of the total, flowed into Austria from purely international investor groups. In the same period of the previous year, this had been only at least 21 million euros, or 27 percent.
