The recovery of the crashed P2002JFS-type small aircraft from a depth of 165 meters in Lake Attersee has begun, with fire department divers initially securing the wreck with ropes.

The recovery of the small aircraft wreck from Lake Attersee poses significant technical challenges for the emergency services. Following the crash at a depth of approximately 165 meters, preparations for the salvage operation took concrete shape on Saturday. District fire department commander Wolfgang Hufnagl from Vöcklabruck explained the first step of the complex operation on request.

"Initially, the priority is to fasten the P2002JFS two-seater with ropes," said Hufnagl on Saturday. Only once this securing is completed can the wreck be brought to the surface in a controlled manner. The depth of 165 meters makes the operation an extraordinary feat of strength, requiring special equipment and experienced rescue divers.
