Vienna, 10 August 2026
Three families with a total of 36 people, including small children in strollers, got into an alpine distress situation in Sölden on Sunday at over 2,300 meters above sea level and were brought down to the valley by mountain rescue services.
Altitude over 2,300 meters
According to the emergency services, the hiking group was in high-alpine terrain above the Wildspitzbahn on the Sonnberg when the situation escalated into mountain distress on Sunday. Due to the altitude and the partly impassable conditions, an independent descent with the strollers was no longer possible.
