Austria's research council FORWIT wants to make university studies structurally more binding, introduce an official part-time study option, and improve access for students from non-academic families, as chairman Thomas Henzinger told APA.

The research council FORWIT has presented a comprehensive reform package for the Austrian higher education system. The key point is that curricula, study law, and examination regulations should in future reflect fewer individual cases and instead define a clear standard case. As FORWIT notes, Austria currently affords itself a liberal system in order to achieve equal opportunity: curricula, study law, examination regulations, etc. are maximally flexible in order to accommodate every conceivable special case.
