The CEO of Rheinmetall Air Defence, Oliver Dürr, confirmed during a factory visit in Zurich that the first of 36 ordered Skyranger air defense systems for Austria will be delivered on schedule in 2027.

Background on the Order

The first units of the cannon-based air defense turret Skyranger are to be delivered on schedule in 2027. This was stated by the CEO of Rheinmetall Air Defence, Oliver Dürr, during a factory visit in Zurich when speaking to journalists. "We are on schedule," said Dürr. The company chief acknowledged that on-time delivery was "a challenge," but said that "at the moment" they were still on schedule.

Austria is the first country to have concluded a contract for the purchase of Skyrangers. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) also met with her Swiss counterpart at the facility in Zurich's Oerlikon district and expressed that she was "proud." She is convinced that it was the "right decision" to procure the Skyranger system.
