Switzerland and Austria Deepen Defense Cooperation in Air Defense

According to information from the press conference, around 140 bilateral security projects already exist between Switzerland and Austria, including joint troop exercises. With the deepening now announced, this stock is to be expanded without calling into question neutrality and the constitutionally guaranteed independence of the armed forces.

Embedding in European Procurement

The cooperation is part of a European trend toward joint arms procurement. Both ministries pointed out that pooling demand enables economies of scale and reduces dependence on individual manufacturers.
