New York, 26 August 2026

Austrian Jurij Rodionov has come through the second qualifying round of the US Open in New York and now faces Britain's Jacob Fearnley in the decisive third round.

The Grand Slam tournament in New York, which this year offers a total prize fund of 108 million dollars, marks the final major event of the tennis year. In the qualifying rounds, players outside the direct world ranking positions compete for the remaining places in the main draw. After his victories in the first two rounds, Rodionov is now just one step away from advancing to the 128-player main field.

Awaiting the Austrian in Jacob Fearnley is an unpleasant opponent. The Briton possesses a strong baseline game and has already proven himself capable of higher tasks this season. For Rodionov, it will come down to consistently holding his serve and initiating the rallies from a secure position.
