Roland Weinert Appointed New Parliamentary Director

Outgoing parliamentary director Harald Dossi is retiring after more than a decade in office. The transition is expected to proceed smoothly, according to parliamentary sources.

Career Path

Weinert’s academic background includes involvement in student associations. During his studies, he was active in the Ring of Freedom Students and led the Innsbruck student fraternity Suevia in the early 2010s.

Suevia had previously faced criticism for honoring SS student leader Gerhard Lausegger. Weinert’s role in this controversy was discussed during the appointment process but was not considered an obstacle.

As parliamentary director, Weinert will join the presidency, one of the republic’s control centers. The position demands political neutrality and administrative competence.

Challenges

The appointment was made by National Council President Walter Rosenkranz, who emphasized Weinert’s extensive experience across various government levels. 'His expertise will benefit the parliament,' Rosenkranz stated.
