Roof fire in Klosterneuburg: 100 firefighters deployed, B 14 closed

During the firefighting operations, the B 14 had to be closed in the area of the operation site. Road users were informed about the duration of the closure and asked to detour around the area.

Closure of the B 14 and traffic situation

According to initial findings by the operations command, no people were injured in the fire. The fire department was able to confirm this after completing the actual firefighting operations at the scene, as the available information shows.

According to Öllerer, the property damage incurred is significant. As he stated, „enormer Sachschaden“ occurred at the affected property. A final damage figure was not initially available.

Cause and extent of damage still unclear

The cause of the roof fire was initially unclear. Fire investigators are expected to clarify the exact sequence of events as soon as the fire department releases the scene. As of the afternoon, no information was available either on whether the building remains habitable.

Residents in the vicinity of the operation site were asked to keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke from entering living spaces.

According to the available information, the fire departments were able to bring the fire under control after approximately several hours. The overhaul operations and checks for possible pockets of embers were ongoing, which is why the closure of the B 14 was being maintained for the time being.

Emergency services take stock

Florian Öllerer spoke of an overall demanding operation for the volunteer responders, who arrived in large numbers. The Tulln district command thanked the deployed units from the Klosterneuburg section as well as from the Tullnerfeld.

Local residents and passersby were informed via loudspeaker announcements. Police directed traffic around the closed federal highway.

For the duration of the closure, a local detour was set up. Drivers were asked to detour around the area and to follow the instructions of law enforcement.
