US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced talks with Iran for next week, with Qatar and Pakistan to serve as mediators.

The announcement comes amid a phase of heightened diplomatic activity between Washington and Tehran. According to information from circles close to the US government, the talks are intended to prepare a framework agreement that could lead to a final agreement within 60 days. Both Qatar and Pakistan have positioned themselves as mediators in recent weeks and have maintained contacts with both sides.

According to participating diplomats, the framework agreement formulates the intention to reach the final agreement within this 60-day deadline if possible. According to Rubio's announcement, the talks are to begin as early as next week. A specific location for the meeting was not initially named; observers point to previous meetings in the region, including in Kuwait City.
