Russia carried out one of the heaviest attack waves since the beginning of the war against multiple Ukrainian cities overnight into Thursday, using combat drones, missiles, and cruise missiles, with explosions, injuries, and severe building damage reported in the capital Kyiv.

After initial strikes in the evening, air raid alerts were triggered again across Ukraine in the early morning hours. According to The Kyiv Independent, this was one of the heaviest attack waves since the start of the war. The Ukrainian air defense was reportedly faced with dozens of projectiles simultaneously.

In Kyiv, explosions were heard both in the evening and during the night. City head Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram that several explosions could be heard in Kyiv. Reporters from The Kyiv Independent described "incredibly loud explosions" that were clearly perceptible even in deep underground air raid shelters. Multi-story buildings, including a hotel, caught fire according to The Kyiv Independent, and residential buildings were completely destroyed.
