The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office announced that it would examine the incident as a possible war crime. Investigators would secure evidence at the impact sites, it said. The international response remained cautious for the time being; EU representatives did not comment immediately.

Eyewitnesses in Bucha reported loud explosions shortly after midnight. Windows had been shattered and power had gone out in parts of the district. A school had served as a makeshift gathering point, a local resident told the news agency.

It was initially unclear how many drones had been launched in total and how many had reached Ukrainian air defenses. The Air Force spoke of several waves over several hours. Officials were also examining whether cruise missiles had been used alongside drones.

In Crimea and the Kherson region, the situation was calm according to local authorities. In recent days, Russia had reported its own drone strikes on Ukrainian positions, though these claims could not be independently assessed. The situation at the front remains tense overall.
