Dublin, July 20, 2026
Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair posted a 34 percent decline in profit to 538 million euros in the first quarter of its 2026/27 fiscal year, as kerosene prices rose significantly in the wake of the Iran war.
Revenue at the airline rose just one percent to 4.4 billion euros in the April-to-June reporting period, Ryanair said on Monday in Dublin. The news agency awp international reported on the figures. The profit decline was considerably sharper than observers had expected.
The main reason for the weak performance is sharply rising kerosene prices. Ryanair has not hedged a large portion of its fuel requirements and is therefore directly exposed to spot-market price increases. The report explicitly attributes the rise in fuel costs to the Iran war.
