Senegalese striker Sadio Mané has announced his retirement from Senegal's national team and at the same time said he intends to make himself available to his country's football in a different capacity.

In a farewell letter distributed through the Senegalese newspaper "Le Quotidien," Mané addressed the supporters of the "Lions of Teranga." "Your constant support was the engine of my success," the 34-year-old wrote. He thanked everyone who had accompanied him during his career and emphasized: "I gave my best and always fought with all my strength for our fatherland."

Mané said he wanted to commit himself to Senegalese football in a different role going forward. "I will gladly put my experience at the service of the nation, whether on the coaching staff, on the bench, or in the leadership bodies," he said. In doing so, the forward left open in what capacity he would contribute in the future.
