Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD) has described the funds made available in the infrastructure special fund as sufficient for heat protection in hospitals, care facilities, schools, and daycare centers, and has placed the responsibility for concrete measures with the states and municipalities.

Funds from the Special Fund

In an interview with Deutschlandfunk, Schneider said that the federal government had made 100 billion euros from the special fund for infrastructure available to the states and municipalities at the beginning of this legislative term for the coming years. Responding to the Greens' demand to equip public buildings with solar-powered air conditioning systems, Schneider remarked: "Und ich finde, das ist ausreichend und auch auskömmlich, um das Ganze auch zu finanzieren und diese Aufgabe auch wahrzunehmen." In doing so, he rejected the accusation that the federal government was providing too little money for heat protection.
