Berlin, 5 June 2026

Serena Williams has confirmed she will compete at the WTA Berlin Tennis Open, scheduled for June 13 to 21 at the LTTC Rot-Weiß facility in Grunewald, tournament organizers said on Friday.

Williams, 44, is returning to professional tennis after nearly four years of hiatus, retirement and a second period of maternity leave. Her last Grand Slam appearance came at the 2022 US Open, where she lost in the third round in a match widely seen as her farewell to the tour. Since then she has largely stepped away from competitive play, making her comeback one of the most anticipated storylines of the grass-court season.

The American will use the Queen's Club event in London as her first competitive stop before traveling on to Berlin. She has received a wildcard for the London tournament, where she is scheduled to play doubles alongside 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko. The two appearances are intended as preparation for Wimbledon, the seven-time champion's stated main goal, with tournament officials calling a Wimbledon start by Williams likely.
