A 42-year-old worker was trapped by the leg under a 200-kilogram ash trough and seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon at around 2:15 p.m. at the Seefeld heating plant in the Innsbruck-Land district of Tyrol.
Course of the accident
According to current findings, the 42-year-old and a 37-year-old colleague wanted to transport the ash trough down a staircase into the cellar using a cable winch. According to reports, a sudden technical defect occurred, causing the heavy trough to slip and bury the leg of the 42-year-old beneath it.
The weight of the trough caused the man serious leg injuries. Emergency personnel provided initial medical assistance directly at the accident scene before the injured man was airlifted by the Christophorus 1 rescue helicopter to the Hall district hospital in Tyrol.
