In addition to Pinzgau, the rainfall also affected other areas of the Salzburg region. In the Flachgau and in the city of Salzburg, localized flooding occurred, while in the Pongau the situation was less critical but still under constant monitoring. In Bad Gastein, response teams were activated to check ground stability after the intense rainfall.

The fire brigades operated in coordination with the provincial command to handle the numerous rescue requests received from residents. The operations mainly involved drying out basements and garages, removing fallen trees, and securing road sections compromised by the severe weather. Several secondary roads were temporarily closed to traffic to allow rescue and cleanup operations to take place.

Recommendations from local authorities

Local authorities urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel in the hardest-hit areas and to stay away from swollen waterways. The recommendation specifically concerned areas near streams swollen by the rainfall, where the risk of further flooding and landslides remained high even in the hours following the event.

On the meteorological front, forecasts had signaled the possibility of intense thunderstorms over the Alpine region, in line with a summer characterized by recurring severe weather episodes. High temperatures followed by sudden storm fronts favored the formation of thunderstorm cells with rainfall concentrated in short periods.

The situation gradually improved in the following hours thanks to the reduction in rainfall and the coordinated action of rescue teams. The fire brigades nevertheless maintained monitoring posts in at-risk areas to intervene promptly in the event of new landslides or flooding.

The overall assessment of the event, at the time the emergency operations were concluded, reported no injuries. Material damage mainly affected road infrastructure, agricultural land, and some residential buildings, with an estimate of costs that will only be possible after a thorough survey of the affected areas.
