Hong Kong, 01 September 2026

Shares of the Chinese online fashion retailer Shein slipped into negative territory on its first trading day on the Hong Kong stock exchange, after the company made its debut on the public market.

The share price of fast-fashion retailer Shein moved below the issue price immediately after trading opened in Hong Kong, as data from the opening day shows. The company had previously completed its long-anticipated initial public offering on the Asian trading metropolis, emphasizing its Chinese origins in the process.

Shein is considered one of the best-known low-cost online retailers worldwide and had recorded strong growth in direct-to-consumer sales in recent years. The move onto the stock exchange was intended to take the company out of its previous private financing and provide capital for further expansion.
