Hong Kong, July 27, 2026

The online fashion retailer Shein slipped into the red in the first quarter of the current year while simultaneously preparing its third attempt at an IPO in Hong Kong.

As shown in the IPO prospectus published on Sunday, Shein reported a net loss of 99 million US dollars (around 87 million euros) in the first quarter. In the same quarter of the previous year, the company had still posted a profit of 395 million US dollars. Group revenue grew only slightly by 1.1 percent to 9.05 billion US dollars over the same period.

The company, founded in China and headquartered in Singapore, published detailed business figures for the first time with the Hong Kong stock exchange prospectus. The filing therefore gives investors a more precise insight into the burdens Shein faces: rising costs, slowing growth, and mounting regulatory pressure in key markets.
