Hong Kong, August 31, 2026

Online fast-fashion retailer Shein is preparing its long-awaited listing in Hong Kong, where it is valued at the equivalent of around €22.6 billion, according to people familiar with the matter.

The planned market capitalization of roughly US$27 billion is significantly lower than the nearly US$100 billion peak the company reached in 2022 during a private funding round. Over the past years, Shein has repeatedly announced plans to go public, mentioning locations including London and New York as potential venues.

The move to Hong Kong comes amid growing trade-policy tensions between the United States and China. In the US, Shein previously faced political resistance, including over allegations relating to labor conditions and the use of a duty-free shipping rule for parcels below a certain value.
