Les Angles, 5 July 2026

A forest fire in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of southern France prompted authorities on Sunday to announce that the third stage of the Tour de France, scheduled for Monday from Granollers in Spain to Les Angles, will be held without spectators once the route enters France.

Race enters France under restrictions

The prefecture of Pyrénées-Orientales said the publicity caravan will also not travel on French territory during the stage. Officials cited the need to allow emergency services to focus on the wildfire rather than on securing the cycling route. "Die morgige Etappe werde nach dem Grenzübertritt von Spanien nach Frankreich ohne Zuschauer ausgetragen," the prefecture announced in a statement.
