Special Structures in Police and Public Prosecutor's Office

The investigation group "Ferrum" (Latin for "iron") was established in November 2025 within the Police State Protection unit of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office (LKA) to combat increasing gun crime in parts of the city, according to the LKA. The background was a significant increase in shootings targeting business people, particularly those from the Turkish-Kurdish community, as well as their establishments. In addition, the investigation group "Telum" (Latin for "weapon") was set up at the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office at the end of February, focusing on organized crime.
