The Styrian SPÖ unanimously dissolved the executive board of its Graz city party on Monday evening with immediate effect, after the party had received only 5.6 percent of votes in the municipal council election on 28 June with lead candidate Doris Kampus.
At a state party executive meeting on Monday evening, the SPÖ executive board of the city party was unanimously dissolved with immediate effect. The Styrian Social Democrats are thus drawing the organisational consequences just days after the election debacle. State party chairman Max Lercher spoke of drawing a line under the "Wahldebakel" at the end-of-June Graz municipal council election.
The SPÖ had received only 5.6 percent of votes with lead candidate Doris Kampus in the municipal council election on 28 June in Graz. It is a historic low for what was once the proud mayor's party under Alfred Stingl. Kampus had already stepped down as city party chair the day after the election.
