Anna Sporrer and Andreas Babler submitted a draft for a Media Law Amendment Act to coalition partners ÖVP and NEOS on Saturday, which is intended to re-regulate the handling of insulting social media comments and so-called warning letter campaigns.

The proposal was put to a political vote on the day of its announcement and, according to the SPÖ's wishes, is intended to proceed quickly to parliamentary proceedings. The core point is a mandatory out-of-court written request before a court application can be filed. Affected parties must therefore first request the media operator or users in writing to remove the disputed content, stop its distribution, or publish an appropriate declaration – within three working days.
