Offenbach, 29 May 2026

The spring of 2026 in Germany was one of the ten mildest since records began in 1881, marked by an abundance of sunshine and significant regional differences in precipitation, the German Weather Service (DWD) reported on Friday.

A Season of Warmth

The average temperature across Germany for the meteorological spring months of March, April, and May reached 9.9 degrees Celsius, according to the DWD's analysis of data from its roughly 2,000 measurement stations. This figure is approximately 2.2 degrees above the internationally valid reference period from 1961 to 1990.

"Die Sonne spendierte außergewöhnlich viele Stunden und ließ das Frühjahr vielerorts eher an südlichere Breiten erinnern," the weather service stated from its headquarters in Offenbach. The DWD confirmed that the season is expected to rank among the ten warmest springs since nationwide weather records began in 1881.
