VfL Bochum advanced past SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the DFB-Pokal first round on Sunday, winning 2-0 away thanks to second-half goals from Maxim Dal and Philipp Hofmann.

VfL Bochum progressed to the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Sunday with a 2-0 away win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth, who crashed out at the first hurdle in front of their own supporters. The visitors from the Ruhr area were the more efficient side on the day, converting the few clear chances they created while keeping Fürth at arm's length.

The breakthrough came shortly after the restart. Bochum's Maxim Dal, the kurz zuvor eingewechselte Neuzugang, finished a move that had been building for several minutes to give the visitors the lead. The goal lifted the visitors and unsettled a Fürth side that had held their own for long spells of the opening period.
