A committee of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament addressed the planned entry of US company Lyten at the insolvent Northvolt construction site near Heide on Tuesday, while economic and opposition politicians called for a sound basis for decision-making.

According to information from the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, Lyten is to pay around 60 million euros for the site. The approximately 100-hectare construction site with building permits had been valued by assessors at a minimum of 11 million euros after the Northvolt insolvency. Northvolt had originally planned a battery factory there with 3,000 jobs. Lyten chief Dan Cook had already announced in March after a visit by the state government in Kiel that he initially wanted to create around 1,000 positions – significantly fewer than originally planned.
