Nove Mesto, 24 May 2026
Laura Stigger delivered a commanding performance to win the women’s mountain bike World Cup cross-country race in Nove Mesto on Sunday, while Tom Pidcock soloed to victory in the men’s event.
The 25-year-old Austrian attacked early on the demanding Czech course and never looked back, crossing the line well ahead of Sweden’s Jenny Rissveds and Switzerland’s Sina Frei. The victory was her sixth in World Cup competition – a milestone that means she has now won half of all World Cup races ever claimed by Austrian women.
Stigger’s dominance was evident from the opening lap, where she established a gap that would only grow. Rissveds, the 2016 Olympic champion, pushed hard to keep the gap manageable but could not match the Austrian’s pace on the climbs and technical descents.
