Those working full time at the minimum wage have a markedly greater distance from basic income support than before the reform, according to a study by WSI and the Hans Böckler Foundation.

The investigation focuses on the wage gap between working families and households receiving basic income support. At its center are the financial effects of the statutory minimum wage, as well as changes in the reference amounts used to calculate state income support benefits.

For a single parent with one child, full-time employment provides an advantage of 757 euros compared with the scenario of receiving basic income support. For a two-parent family with two children and one earner, the gap amounts to 749 euros.
