Around 670,000 children and young people in Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Carinthia, and Styria began their nine-week summer holidays on Friday after the distribution of report cards, meaning that all of Austria's roughly 1.2 million pupils are now on vacation.
This means that one week after the start of holidays in eastern Austria, the west and south of the country have now also kicked off their summer break. In Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Upper Austria, Carinthia, and Styria, schools on Friday bid farewell to their pupils with the distribution of end-of-year report cards.
A total of around 670,000 children and young people are starting the summer holidays in these six federal states. Together with the roughly 530,000 pupils in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland who already began their holidays last week, according to the available figures there are now around 1.2 million pupils across the country enjoying their free time.
