Frankfurt, June 22, 2026

At Frankfurt Airport, passengers on a Sunexpress flight to Antalya endured over an hour in a fully booked, non-air-conditioned aircraft on a sunny afternoon, with some placing emergency calls.

Flight XQ147 operated by Sunexpress had originally been scheduled to depart Frankfurt Airport for the Turkish city of Antalya on June 21 at around 2:00 p.m. However, as multiple media outlets reported consistently, the aircraft was still sitting fully occupied on the apron at 3:15 p.m. – in summer temperatures and without a functioning air conditioning system.

According to those involved, the situation on board escalated to such an extent that travelers themselves called the emergency number because they could no longer bear the conditions inside the overheated cabin. Emergency services were dispatched to Frankfurt Airport as a result.
