Ulf Kristersson’s government is set to be replaced after the Swedish parliament asked the prime minister to explore new government options in light of the prospect of a new election.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson accepted an assignment from Speaker of Parliament Anders Norlén to explore the possibility of forming a new government. The move comes amid political tension following the decline in public support for the Social Democratic government.

The government consultation is scheduled for 4 November, when the opposing blocs will meet to determine whether a new government is possible. The result will be decisive for the continuity of the current administration.
