Berlin, June 02, 2026
Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia have announced a joint initiative to tighten the Self-Determination Act (SBGG), which aims to strengthen self-determination and prevent abuse.
According to the Saxon Ministry of Justice, the three federal states have launched a joint initiative to specifically fine-tune the Self-Determination Act, which has been in effect since 2024. The central goal is to strengthen the rights of trans and intersex people while effectively preventing obvious abuse of the procedure. The proposal is to be presented at the Conference of Justice Ministers on June 11 and 12 in Hamburg, as first reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
