The municipality of Lermoos lies at around 1,000 meters above sea level at the foot of the Zugspitze and is shaped by agriculture. In many places, field and meadow paths run close to embankments, which increases the risk of vehicle tipping accidents.

The investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. Whether technical failure, a driving error, or external circumstances such as wet meadows triggered the fall is the subject of the investigations.

Tractor accidents in Austria's mountain regions result in disproportionately severe outcomes according to data from the social insurance institution for self-employed persons (SVS). In uneven terrain, even a slight deviation from the path is enough to cause a heavy vehicle to tip over.

In this context, the police regularly appeal to farmers to use vehicles with all-wheel drive and a low center of gravity and to drive along embankments with sufficient distance. The use of rollover protection bars is also recommended.

According to the current state of information, the incident has no major effects on ongoing operations on the alpine pastures around Lermoos. The cleanup work at the accident site was completed on Friday.
