Graz, 07 July 2026
On the pedestrian and bicycle path of Keplerstraße in Graz's Lend district, two collisions between cyclists and previously unknown e-scooter riders occurred on Thursday, 2 July 2026, and in the days prior, in which the riders each continued on their way after a brief conversation and the cyclists suffered bone fractures.
Two Accidents in Just a Few Days
According to police, the first accident occurred on Thursday, 2 July 2026, at around 14:00 on the pedestrian and bicycle path of Keplerstraße in the Lend district. A 21-year-old cyclist from the district of Murau was heading toward Lendplatz and wanted to cross straight over the cyclist crossing at the intersection with Hans-Resel-Gasse/Mariengasse.
As the woman described, an oncoming e-scooter rider veered too far toward the middle of the bicycle path shortly before the intersection, causing the collision. The e-scooter rider initially stopped and asked about her condition. Since the 21-year-old said in shock that everything was fine, the man continued his journey.
The young woman fell and injured her wrist. The cyclist later went to LKH Graz, where a wrist fracture was treated on an outpatient basis. Police classify the incident as a traffic accident involving hit-and-run, because the rider left the scene despite the woman's injury without leaving his personal details.
